A Closer Look At Drx900 Treatment From A Doctor ' s View

This recent interview was knowledgeable on Spine Universe:

W. Robert Hudgins, MD Neurosurgeon Neurological Surgeons of Dallas Dallas, TX

This interview talks about the experience of W. Robert Hudgins, MD, using DRX9000 as well as forbearing outcomes.

Dr. Hudgins, why did you induce to try the DRX9000 in your practice?

Id have to say, it had a lot to do with the blunder of general traction, and sometimes physical therapy, in the treatment of back pain. General traction has been used for many senescence as a conservative back pain therapy. The drawback to general traction is it cannot exert adequate pull on the lumbar spine to really do much good. When the DRX9000 was introduced to me, I was intrigued by the science and specialized aspects of its controlled spinal decompression therapy.

Unlike conventional traction, the DRX9000 exerts adequate forces to distract vertebrae to create negative pressure within video spaces to decompress the spine. It tidily makes sense and the DRX9000 was the equipment I found to have worked out a complete system out to accomplish spinal decompression.

Why do you say sometimes physical therapy fails?

Im not discrediting physical therapy by any means, but some back pain patients are not compliant with the demands of a PT program. Unfortunately, for some, physical therapy is not successful. There are many reasons besides issues related to pain that prevent patients from doing well in PT. Some back pain patients need rest to help gratify symptoms, which the DRX9000 provides. The DRX9000 does not pursue physical therapy, but is an adjunctive treatment. Patients learn how to exercise to build strength and compass, as well as biomechanics for injury prevention.

What is involved in DRX9000 treatment?

In treating a low back problem, such as a bulging vinyl, the forbearing is positioned on the ration, secured into place by means of a vest with under arm pillar to prevent the body from sliding downward. A belt is affixed about the waist. The treatment duration, amount of pull ( in pounds ), and decompression angle are entered into the computer. The computer uses the data to calculate a slow progression to maximum pull while alternating pulling and relaxing. A typical treatment lasts 20 - to 30 - minutes. Varying the angle of decompression ( pull ) adjusts the force through the target tape level. Angle variation cannot be effectively accomplished by means of conventional traction.

The amount of pull, or pounds; how is that calculated?

It depends on the patients trait. Generally, I start with one - half of the patients weight irrecoverable 20 - pounds. For citation, a 200 - pound responsive would start therapy at a maximum of 80 - pounds of pull. As treatment is tolerated, the amount of pull may be gradually increased to half the body weight plus 10 - pounds. As a rule, I start with the lower amount of pull and gradually increase.

Do patients experience immediate or gradual pain relief?

It is variable. A few patients have reported after 3 or 4 treatments they extant feel much better. However, for the treatment to be most effective, a full 3 to 4 weeks is recommended.

Are other treatments combined with DRX9000 therapy?

Good. Patients hold electrical stimulation and practical massage after each treatment to prevent or reduce stiffness and muscle spasm. Depending on the patients spinal disorder, they are clever to wear a post, which is disused after the program.

What spinal disorders do you treat using the DRX9000? It is exceptional and perhaps self - defeating that many of the patients referred to me for spine surgery, are successfully treated with spinal decompression. These patients teem with those with bulging and herniated discs and degenerated discs. Special spinal problems such as spondylolisthesis, stenosis, and arthritis are not right for decompression. The key is seemly perceptive yardstick and judgment.

Im a strong upholder in nonsurgical therapy before unborn surgery. Of course, some patients, such as someone with hurdle foot, may have need already surgery.

Is the patients age a factor?

Ofttimes, no. Two cases come to mind. The first is an active male in his early 30s who enjoys golf and tennis. He presented as a surgical referral with a herniated cd. However, he didnt want surgery. The help circumstances is an older female, a hospital tech who suffered back pain for 3 senility. Both patients wanted to try the DRX9000 instead of surgery. Both progress to do well caducity after decompression treatment and without surgery.

Does this stingy results are permanent?

Ive used the DRX9000 since 2000 and have followed my patients. In general, 2 out of 3 low back pain and 3 out of 4 smooch pain patients earn excellent relief. About 75 - 80 % of my patients pursue to do well. I estimate 20 - 25 % return with pain and ask to be treated again; a few may depend upon surgery. In my experience, the majority of patients are pleased with their outcome.

What is the learning curve to use the DRX9000?

About 3 days of training is necessary. When my practice obtained its first DRX9000, my PA and I administered therapy to all patients. Once we were intimate with the equipment, and the symbol of patients grew, we hired a obsessed tech to govern DRX9000 therapy. Belt regulation to prevent slippage during treatment is an art, but not difficult to learn.

Join like to know how many patients your practice has treated using the DRX9000?

To date, almost 800. Forbearing evaluation and selection is important to treatment success using the DRX9000. Just as every kind is not a surgical candidate, not all patients with a back or smooch problem are candidates for spinal decompression.

Thank you Dr. Hudgins.

You are greet.

Explaining Pyramid Sets

Explaining Pyramid Sets

When lifting weights and bodybuilding what is the best way to perform your sets? Most beginners will use the simple 3 sets of 10 reps approach, but most of the pros will use pyramid sets.

Pyramid sets a called as such due to they follow a pyramid structure with the lifter first with a light weight for high repetitions, then gradually increase the weight used whilst dropping the digit of reps performed.

Firstly the pyramid set will embark on with a light weight that the lifter can use for around 10 - 15 repetitions. This set is used to mild up the targeted muscle and also increase blood flow into that area and prepare the joints for the movement of other weight.

The next set after a short rest of about 90 seconds must be loaded with a weight that can be lifted for around 6 - 8 reps

In the feeler set your should reach muscular slip in the 4 - 6 rep range.

You can glom that the pyramid set starts with a light weight for around 12 reps, then weight is gradually too many to the movement as the repetitions decrease.

Advantages of the pyramid set method

Early with a lighter weight for high repetitions primes the muscle for the innumerable sets. This largely lowers the chance of injury and also increases the amount of blood flow and nutrients delivered to muscle tissue so that you are fully prepared for the heavy sets.

Using lighter and wider weights has shortened the amount of time in the gym as we can rest for less time during the first two sets as opposed to lifting heavy for three sets. This method will also prevent over - training.

Using three different tautology ranges

Else advantage of using three different ranges of repetitions is the types of muscle fibres that you will incorporate. To attain the most muscle hypertrophy it is recommended that you use both low AND high rep ranges. If you use just one rep range your muscles will modify to this and not grow as much as if you used differing rep ranges.

It’ s true that this can be done on a longer term basis for specimen 3 weeks training at the 10 rep range, then 3 weeks at the 5 rep range. However performing pyramid sets will achieve the same backwash with greater facility.

Muscle Fibres

Although there are strictly more ‘ type sets’ of fibres I will characterize two inmost types here.

Slow jump fibres are those that use oxygen as an energy source through aerobic respiration. They are utilised when performing more rep ranges and are used principally for endurance and do not exhaustion easily. However they do not cater much power or strength.

Fast leapfrogging fibres are antithesis to this. They use stored glycogen as an energy source and not oxygen therefore they are anaerobic. As they rely totally on stored energy they can only perform work for very shot periods, however since they are halfway twice as large as slow leapfrogging fibres they create large amounts of power and strength.

Let’ s face it, if you’ re looking to build muscle then you don’ t want to train your slow dive fibres like a marathon runner, but you do need to switch your rep ranges as this has been shown to trigger the greatest muscle fibre growth response. So keeping you rep range from the 15 rep range, down to the 3 rep range using pyramid sets will incorporate the muscle fibres you want to grow.

Pyramid Sets – The Perfect Way…

Well, life isn’ t that easy, the gospel is as mentioned before the best way to keep your muscles growing is to keep your muscles guessing! Give pyramid sets a try for 8 weeks and then go back to your average 3 sets of 10. Pyramids are not the perfect answer ( that doesn’ t exist ) but they are effective as part of a consistent and varying timetable.
